WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

Not All Nutritionists Are Created Equal.

Many people are surprised to learn that the term “nutritionist” isn’t regulated in most states — virtually anyone can call themselves one, regardless of education or training.

  • Registered Dietitians (RDs) are licensed healthcare professionals who must:

    • Earn a bachelor’s (and often master’s) degree in nutrition or dietetics

    • Complete a 1,000+ hour supervised internship

    • Pass a national registration exam

    • Maintain ongoing professional education

  • Extensive training ensures that RDs provide safe, evidence-based care — especially important for patients with chronic conditions or those taking novel weight loss medications, such as GLP-1s.

  • Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is may be covered by insurance for conditions like diabetes, kidney disease, and obesity. We’re happy to help you verify your coverage and make the process easy.

    • Currently, I am In-Network with Aetna and United Healthcare (requires an applicable diagnosis from your primary physician to submit a claim). If the claim is denied, you will be responsible for the cash-pay rate.

      • For those with Aetna who do not have a covered diagnosis, I offer cash-pay rates that are discounted from insurance rates.

    • Patients with another form of insurance can be provided a Superbill. You simply pay the cash-pay rate upfront for your appointment, and submit the superbill as a receipt to your insurance, which may reimburse you for part or all of your expense.

  • Although everyone can benefit from preventive nutrition guidance, some are more likely to need advanced care. Seek a dietitian if:

    • You have with a medical diagnosis like diabetes, high blood pressure, or fatty liver

    • You're using GLP-1 medications and need expert guidance

    • You’re looking for long-term results based on science, not fad diets

    • You want help navigating eating habits, weight loss, or emotional eating

Still unsure if dietitian care is right for you? Let’s talk. Contact Us for more information.

CARE AT WELLFED IS AS UNIQUE AS YOU ARE.

Medical Nutrition Therapy is provided through counseling sessions (similar to using a physical therapist), which requires an initial consult with follow-up visits as needed for your individual circumstances.

Unique to WellFed, we offer an introductory educational session on GLP-1 (incretin) therapy OR balanced nutrition using a MyPlate Plan approach. These focused sessions give us time to discuss the chosen topic and briefly apply it to you. Focused sessions are not counseling, however, and are not a form of Medical Nutrition Therapy.

COUNSELING SESSIONS: INITIAL 90 MIN, FOLLOW-UPS 30-60 MINUTES

  • Full health and lifestyle evaluation

  • Personalized nutrition plan

  • Goal setting & behavior change

  • Track progress against goals

  • Troubleshoot barriers and challenges

  • Refine strategies & define new goals!

EDUCATION SESSIONS (GLP-1 OR MYPLATE FOCUSED): 30 MINUTES

  • GLP-1 FOCUS: Want a sit-down session to discover all you need to know about GLP-1 use for glycemic regulation and weight loss? Or have you been using GLP-1’s but want to better understand the treatment to improve your outcomes? This mini session is for you!

  • MYPLATE PLAN FOCUS: If you’ve been wanting to “eat healthier” but don’t know where to start, this conversation will provoke a greater awareness of dietary advice based on the most current research. Moreover, you’ll receive a nutrition plan perfectly suited for you!
